CSA week 22

The end of the road. The last in line. Okay not really. We are having such an unusually warm fall that our CSA offered a share extension of two weeks. So we will have two more weeks (baring any snow storms) after this week for an additional fee. I am excited to keep getting my almost zero miles food. Our pickup is 2.5 miles from our house which is 7 miles from either of the two farms the food comes from.

This week we all got onions. I chose spinach over lettuce, baby chard over baby kale, beets over carrots or turnips, confection over butternut, acorn, or sunshine squash, and cabbage over brussel sprouts or rutabaga. We had peaches and apples in our fruit share.

mmm sauerkraut
What I made: Apples and pears in bellies, spinach in pasta with delicata squash from before, beet greens and baby chard sauteed with bulgur wheat and onions, sauteed spinach, butternut squash soup from before, and beets and cabbage for later.
